Cartographica Imaginarium

Goblinweek round-up of all the goblins.

I tried to go for a cohesive look to all the goblins - not only in anatomical design, but in clothing and props as well - to give the impression of an actual culture/society. So the clothing is all similar in colour, decorative patterns (where they appear) are similar, the tattoos share a similar look, several of them are wearing badge-like amulets, the tools look alike, etc., etc.

I wanted to depict a society that has some level of technology and culture, while at the same time being somewhat primitive - so you’ve got safety lanterns and books, but the books are unevenly bound in stone-plates and the safety lantern’s got a handle that looks like a regular old stick, etc.

I also decided to draw some goblin ladies, because they tend to be curiously absent when one draws goblins - and as this is fantasy, there’s no need to import gender-stereotypes from our world.
